Fredrick Minnis
Fredrick Minnis, is a believer in Jesus Christ and has been a faithful member of Largo Community Church in Mitchellville, Maryland for over 25-years.
Fred is a humble man who has been married to his high school sweetheart Peggy for 35 years. They have two sons Fredrick, III and Devin.
For 22-years Fred has been the primary person attending and bringing the Word of God once a month to the men residing at the Gospel Rescue Mission in downtown Washington, DC.
Eight years ago, Fred learned that he needed a kidney transplant. While he was on the waiting list for five years, Fred required dialysis treatment three-times a week. This did not hinder Fred’s trust and faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. But, it limited his ministry participation at the Gospel Rescue Mission for several years. However, he did attend Largo’s Men’s Tuesday Evening Bible Study. The faithful prayers of intercession by Largo Community Church and specifically the Men’s Tuesday Evening Bible Study were made to Father God for five years on Fred’s behalf. Three-years ago Father God answered prayer and Fred received his kidney transplant.
He has returned to his once a month ministry at the Gospel Rescue Mission and has given his testimony to the men of his health trials and victory in the Lord. His faith and trust in Jesus Christ has inspired many men at the Gospel Rescue Mission and Largo Community Church to believe on Jesus Christ. Currently, Fred is forging new vistas in his commitment to further serve Father God as the founder and manager of Largo Community Volunteers. The mission is to minister the Word of God to the men incarcerated within the Prince Georges County, Maryland Department of Corrections.
Jesus Christ calls us men to develop a strong personal relationship with Him that is anchored on his truth that He will never leave us nor forsake us. Throughout Fred’s personal and physical trials his steadfast commitment and faith in Jesus Christ has never wavered once! He is an exemplary model of inspiration and has continued to encourage many men to believe in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
It’s a pleasure to honor this brother in Christ, Fredrick Minnis, a man who loves Jesus Christ with all his heart and has put his hand to the plow and is not looking back. May Father God’s blessings continuously be with you Fred Minnis.
